How to find a good Realtor....
The time has come to sell your house. Whether it is relocation, downsizing, or moving up - the goal is the same: to sell your property in the shortest period of time for the most amount of money. How do you do that? Here are a few guidelines on finding a good Realtor: Make sure they are an active, seasoned agent. I don't mean your brother's girlfriend who works at Abercrombie and just got her license. Look for someone who has been a full time agent for at least 7 years - this shows that they know more about real estate than just the 'good times' of recent past. Get a local expert. Ask them where their office is. Do they know your neighborhood? How many houses have they bought or sold there? Networking is crucial in this market - make sure your agent is connected. Interview more than one. This is the person that you will be working with for months. They will be dealing with one of your largest and most emotionally charged investments. Make sure you are compatible. Don't go for the highest price. Some agents are notorious for valuing your house in the stratosphere so that you choose them to list with. Problem is, it won't sell for that price and most likely will sell for less once it has languished on the market for months. Make sure there are comparable properties to back up their numbers. Get references and CHECK THEM. Past and current clients speak volumes. Following these guidelines will help you secure an expert agent to help you navigate the real estate market.
